Candy Alexander - President, ISSA International Organization
As a recognized information security leader, Candy has in-depth experience in performing many aspects of information security which she obtained through the various information security roles she has filled in her 23+ years in the industry at companies such as Digital Equipment, Compaq Computer Corporation and Symantec. Candy is often requested to present at various conferences. Her most memorable to date is the session at the United Nations where she was a featured speaker for the IT Security Symposium and running in close second is an invitation to the Offices of the White House to speak on the importance of awareness to the President's Cyber-Czar staff (Richard Clark). Candy has also served as Vice President of Education and Vice President of International Relations for ISSA. She remains heavily involved at the local level through her participation with the New England Chapter board and the ISSA-New Hampshire Chapter for which her efforts were awarded with her ISSA Distinguished Fellow member status, which she received in 2010. Candy will introduce roadmap on ISSA 2019 as an international organization for cybersecurity professionals.
Candy Alexander will provide some insight as to her approach in leading our association with a growth strategy. An overview will be presented of the new changes and opportunities for members that can be expected in the next twelve months to begin growing membership while demonstrating our thought leadership for the profession. Candy will be available throughout most of the day, if you’d like to say hello, introduce yourself and provide your feedback regarding ISSA International. Be sure to attend her presentation later in the morning regarding the sneak peek results of the ISSA/ESG Research regarding our profession and challenges we face. Her session’s title is “Hearing Voices: The Voice of the CyberSecurity Professional is Finally Heard!
Tasneem Nipplewala, (MSIA, CISSP, CCSP) - VP, Information Security at Eastern Bank
Tasneem has 10+ years of experience in information technology and security, and has worked in various industries including software development, insurance, life sciences and financial services. Tasneem has received her Masters in Information Assurance from Northeastern University, and has her Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Engineering. Tasneem is a Senior Security Architect at Eastern Bank, largest and oldest mutual bank in the country with $11B in assets. As part of her responsibilities, Tasneem provides internal clients security services when implementing new initiatives across the bank and insurance company to ensure the solutions are built with highest security standards. Her area of expertise includes vulnerability management, threat intelligence, emerging technology assessments, incident response and cloud security assessments. Tasneem is also a part-time Faculty for the Cyber Security graduate program at Northeastern University. Tasneem also serves as a President for the New England Information Systems Security Association, an international organization of security professionals.
For an Enterprise Security Program to be successful, it is very important for business to understand the need for security. Both business and security teams should enable each other to make an organization achieve its goals and stay secure in this digital world. New Initiatives Program management can be a nexus for various groups like Information Security, Operational Risk, Compliance, Fraud Prevention, Technology and Finance to come together and review various Enterprise Risk controls. In this talk, we will discuss building a framework for on-boarding and "productionalizing" new projects. Any major changes to your IT and Business portfolio is a great opportunity to infuse your security services to the business line and add the checks and balances for Enterprise Risk Management. I will discuss what my company has done to infuse security in our corporate culture as part of the new initiative management.
