Speakers and Bio
Special Agent (SA) Carmine Nigro has been employed with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for over 30 years. He entered on duty as a Special Agent in December 1987. In March 1988, after successfully completing New Agent Training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, he was assigned to the Houston Division. Prior to his transfer to Boston, SA Nigro served in New York, Rome, Italy, and FBI Headquarters in Washington D.C. In May 2000, SA Nigro was transferred to the Boston Division where he supervised a Special Operations Group (SOG). In April 2004, he was selected by the FBI Boston Executive Management to establish a Field Intelligence Group. In February 2008, SA Nigro was appointed as the Counterintelligence Strategic Partnership Coordinator. In December 2016, SA Nigro was designated as the Private Sector Coordinator for the FBI Boston Division. Carmine will be presenting insider threat behavioral indicators with cases from the field.
Steve Lipka is a business-focused information security leader with a track record of delivering results beneficial to company profitability, operating capability, and shareholder value. An Award-winning CISO at Cushman recognized for innovation and leadership, Steve has broad experience spanning multiple industries. Steve earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn (now NYU) and his Doctorate at State University of New York at Stony Brook. He has held leadership positions in professional societies, has spoken at a number conferences, and has served as Adjunct Professor at Bentley University. Security Metric reporting is an important aspect of any security program and aims to tell your success story to higher management. Steve will present various use cases of security metrics reporting, define usable metrics, discuss concept of scorecards and end with few examples of dashboard.
FBI Special Agent, Alethea Harris, has been a Special Agent with the FBI since 2004. Alethea has worked on several public corruption and civil rights cases in Newark for ten years. She is a licensed Attorney, and has worked on health care fraud cases in Boston for three years until becoming the Associate Division Counsel for the Boston Office several months ago. Alethea will discuss the importance of identifying Health Care Fraud, Statutes, Costs to public, Schemes, Investigative techniques, and recent case examples. Understanding these Fraud schemes help us as an information security professional to build better controls in technology and operations.
Frank O’Hara, is the Director of Enterprise Sales North America for Verisign Security Services (VSS). Since joining Verisign as Director of Account Management in April 2011, Frank is responsible for creating and managing campaigns that provide thought leadership in the security services space. Frank has spoken on security at various venues in US and EMEA. Prior to joining Verisign, Frank has worked in the Financial Services business, the last three as Managing Director at Revenue Shares ETFS, a company that he helped to start. Frank will be presenting on The DNS Ecosystem, and using DNS to combat malware.
